I’m the biggest fan of creating stories on Instagram and learned to love them so much!
If you’re not fully engaged in creating stories yet, I highly suggest to get on it, because they’re a game-changer. Let me share some of my secrets with you, and what makes a good Instagram story that attracts more followers and gets the most engagement.

Show up everyday
That’s an important one, because people will become interested in seeing what you have to say/post on a daily basis.
A daily story might sound time-consuming, but it’s worth it. It’s also something you can plan ahead and get ready the night before. That way you’re not stressing about the content on the day off, and can make sure that it’s worth sharing.
Take your time, write down your ideas and thoughts, and based on that, create your story. I like to keep a google doc with ideas for stories, or I get inspired by what is happening at the moment.
Make a daily habit to show up everyday. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just show up! You will get used to it, and the more you create stories, the better and easier they will get over time.
Share other people’s content to get visibility
That’s a great way to gain exposure! By tagging and sharing other people’s content, their followers then in turn might also become interested in following you and the chain just keeps on growing.
If you see something outstanding on someone else’s profile, give them a shout-out by sharing it on your story. Remember: Instagram is a social media platform. Get social, get out there, make connections! Having Insta friends will make you more excited to get on the gram’ everyday and show up for your followers.
Especially in the beginning, you need support to build your brand and get inspired. And when you share content from other accounts they might share on their stories and you get more exposure!
Be a storyteller
This one will require some patience and practice, but I strongly believe that we all have a little storyteller in us! This is what makes you stand out. Make it unique, coherent, and put it in an order, so that it will tell an interesting story for your audience.
Every story has a beginning, a middle, and an end, and this also applies to modern-day Instagram stories! So make sure to have those ready, and really think about the kind of story you want to tell. What’s the theme? And what message do you want to share with the world? What’s your niche? It’s easier if you have a specific niche and can create your content surrounding that.
You don’t have to share only the business side of you on stories. Share the behind-the-scenes, your morning routine, a new show that you are obsessed with. Remember the Google doc I mentioned above? Make sure to use it!
I love doing polls, and so should you. They’re incredibly easy to do it – just use the poll sticker when you open the stories feature – and require very little engagement, but nonetheless, they create engagement from your followers. It’s a simple yes or no, but what you need to think about is content and the kind of question you want to ask.
If you never done a poll and don’t feel super comfortable about it, start with easy questions like: do you like coffee or tea? Working from home or at the office? Then, as your followers get more used to responding, you can ask questions related to your business.
Polls and its answers give you a great idea on who your followers are and what they’re like. That can even help you with your next story and poll, if you want to do a part 2 or simple follow-up question.
