Hi, loves! I’m so excited to be here writing about my passion: Instagram!
I’ve been working as a blogger since 2015 and this year I decided to go on a journey to help you with Instagram! I had my account hacked and deleted last year and lost all my 75K followers. It was a hard time for me, but I decided to start over and continue to share my message and my work on Instagram. I created a new account and now I’m at 40K followers! I can’t wait to share with you all my experience and knowledge about having a business on Instagram, especially on the engagement topic, which many of us struggle with. Enough about me now!
I hope you enjoy my first blog post back and would love to hear your feedback!
Are you struggling to grow your Instagram account organically? If so, you may want to work on your branding. A strong personal brand will help your audience connect with you on a deeper level. People like consistency, and since you only have a few seconds to wow them with your profile, it’s important that your brand comes across as unique and engaging.
In today’s post, we’ll go over 3 ways to brand yourself on Instagram. These tips are especially for you if you’re new to Instagram or just not getting the results you’re hoping for.
Tip #1: Use consistent colors and filters
Consistency is key when it comes to branding. Choose 1-2 filters for your photos and stick to them. To take your branding a step further, pick out a color palette and use it for your Story Highlight icons. You can also use these colors to create templates for your posts, if you like to post quotes or other graphics. Having a consistent look will not only give your profile a clean and aesthetically pleasing look, but it will also make your brand more memorable.
Missguided is a great example of how to effectively use colors for branding–a few shades of pink dominate their profile and are sprinkled throughout their feed.
Tip #2: Get personal
If you want your audience to connect with you, then you have to show your face now and then. Studies have shown that selfies get significantly higher engagement on Instagram than other images. (Don’t believe me? Just check your analytics!) Not only do people want to see your face, they also want to hear your story. Storytelling is a powerful tool in marketing, and the same goes for personal branding.
If selfies aren’t your thing, don’t worry–there are other ways to get more personal on Instagram. This leads us to my third tip.
Tip #3: Use Stories strategically
How many of you prefer watching Stories to scrolling your feed? The popularity of this engaging feature is on the rise. If you’re not taking advantage of Stories, you are missing out on an amazing opportunity to grow your brand authentically. A lot of popular brands, such as Tarte and Mejuri, use Stories to show behind the scenes footage. You can (and should) do the same–show snapshots of your day, create polls, and talk about relevant topics. Your audience will love seeing your unique personality come through, especially if your feed is more curated.
Below is an example of how Tarte uses Stories to give their audience a peek at their creative process.
I hope you find these tips helpful as you work on developing your personal brand. Branding yourself is easier said than done, however it will be totally worth the effort when you see your engagement and following begin to hike! Plus, it’s a fun and creative process that, if done right, will leave you feeling more confident in yourself and the content you’re putting out there.
