Ahh, the famous engagement. We all feel like we don’t have enough and need more. Most of us try to implement some strategies we read on the internet of some marketing guru. But what about things we are not doing and that is hurting our engagement? I want to be crystal clear and direct so you can start doing things that actually move the needle on your Instagram account. These are the three things that are hurting your Instagram engagement.
1. You post…and ghost.
We’ve all been there.
We are running around, doing errands and decide to post on Instagram, but we don’t interact with the people we are following, or stick around a little bit to reply to comments. This is a big mistake, and can actually hurt your algorithm!
Make a goal to post only when you have at least 10 minutes to reply back to comments. If you have 15 or 30 minutes, even better.
I like to set 30 minutes aside when I’m posting so I interact with my followers, the people I follow and hashtags. This will make a huge difference on your account!
2. You don’t add a call to actions in your posts
If you don’t put much thought into your captions, it’s time to change that!
The best way to spark conversation with your followers is to ask questions! You get to know them better and you can take the conversation to the DM – where the magic happens for business owners.
At the end of your caption or story, encourage them to send you a DM, comment, or answer your story poll/question get the conversation started and grow your Instagram engagement.
3- You show up in stories like…never.
I’ll keep repeating myself, but you know stories are the best way to connect with your followers. Pictures are great, but do you even know how videos can be impactful?
Stories are how your audience really gets to know you! You can share tips, behind the scenes, rant, do polls (by the way, polls are a must!)
Create a poll once a week. Commit to show up on stories 3x a day for a month and see how fast your Instagram engagement changes!
Follow these strategies and see how your Instagram starts to change!
