The first impression matters a lot on Instagram. When someone takes a quick glance at your profile you want them to get hooked and press that follow button.
A powerful way to attract the right people? Having a strong and optimized bio. It is one of the first things people will notice when they discover and browse through your page. It should give them some basic information about you, such as your profession or field, name, and maybe location.
In order to make your bio stand out, however, it has to say a little more than that. Today I want to share with you 3 ways on how to make your bio pop and spark curiosity in potential, new followers.
Tell people how you help them
What do you do and how could it benefit people? How do you help people? In a sentence, explain yourself and bring your point across – be precise and brief.
The bio should give away just enough, so that people’s interest is peaked, but shouldn’t contain a whole life story (which also wouldn’t fit in your bio!).
Make it fun and upbeat. Include one or two inspirational words, if they match with your overall message. Adding personality always helps you to stand out! Just make sure to have a clear message on what you offer – clarity over clever!
Include a call to action
If you don’t tell people what to do, they most likely won’t do it. Some common things to say are:

You can make it your own and be creative with it! Urge people to visit your website or to read your newest blog, and follow it up by attaching the link in your bio. Update it regularly, if necessary.
Give them the (free) goodies
Who doesn’t love a freebie packed with value? Once you offer something for free, people will be drawn to your site much quicker and become more willing to give you a chance.
Obviously it depends on what you do, but let’s say you’re a life coach, for example. You could maybe offer a free discovery call or a pre recorded series where you teach the basics of having a successful online business.
Or if you’re a photographer, you could give one your presets away! It might seem like work at first, but it will improve traffic to your site and get people on your email list – if you have one, if you don’t I highly recommend you to start one.
The best freebie is the one that is packed with value and acts like a funnel to your paid offers. When people get a taste of your work and what transformation you offer, they will be much more likely to buy from you later on!
