How To Plan Your Instagram for 2021

With the new year quickly approaching, it is important to have a plan in place for your social media. This plan will help you stay consistent, and we all know consistency is key in order to have a profitable Instagram. There are a few things I want to share with you about how I am planning for 2021, in hopes that it will inspire you in your planning as well. So, here is how to plan your Instagram for 2021!

Decide on your Content Pillars

When it comes to creating content for your Instagram (or social media) it is important to have first decided on at least 3 content pillars. Content pillars are the broad categories that your content will focus around. For example, my 3 nstagram content pillars are: helpful Instagram tips, family, and health. Content pillars are important to have set inplace so that you don’t end up sharing too much about your personal life or your dog and neglect sharing about your business.

Take a few minutes and decide on 3-5 content pillars and spend time writing your content out related to just those topics so that you have that as a reference when planning. Stick to 5 pillars at the most so that you keep your content topics concise. If you choose more than 5 it can make getting leads and turning your Instagram into profile a little more difficult.

Try your best to share a good mix of business and what makes you human to show your community that you are real and well-rounded.

Decide on what date & time you will batch your content every week

And add it to your calendar – because if we don’t schedule it, let’s be honest, we won’t do it! If you want to be consistent and make a change, you have to schedule it in.

My recommendation is to time-block one hour for content batching. It might not take you that long some weeks, but at least give yourself that time if it’s needed. Schedule this time as a recurring event each week so that you expect it and make it happen.

In order to successfully plan your Instagram for 2021, you must schedule that time, and plan out your posts AND stories!

Make things simple for you

It is easy to overthink and make things complicated for you, but try your best not to over-complicate this.

I know it’s easy to but tons of planners, tons of calendars, and take tons of classes – but all of that isn’t necessary. In fact, it often times causes us to get frustrated and overwhelmed.

Make things simple.

Pick one app to organize your photos – I personally like to use Planoloy and have recommended Tailwind to my clients.

Go to Etsy and find one present you want to use on Instagram. Upload it into your Lightroom app and use it on every single photo to create a consistent look on your profile. Find one preset you like and stick to it instead of using many presets.

Have your hashtags saved to your phone in Notes or somewhere they are easily accessible to copy and paste. If you don’t know how to use hashtags, reply to this email and ask about my hashtag course! It’s loaded with several classes on how to research and utilize hashtags to the fullest and how they can benefit your Instagram.

Let’s not “wing it” when it comes to social media this year. I understand the weight of the many moving parts in a business, but your business growth depends on the consistency and planning you can do for it.

Come with me and let’s hit the ground running!

2021 HERE. WE. COME.

Love, Monica
